strong one - to submit/publish

My dad used to quote
a rabbi from his youth
saying father's/mother's day
is not one day a year
but that it's every day.
Dad honored his parents
during their cut-short lives
and long after they passed.
He surpassed most people
with respect to his folks.
This came to me just now
as I read that today
was world poetry day.
For this rabbi believes that
every day is poetry day.

Toward the end of Shabbos
I took a walk down empty
Amsterdam Avenue.
A handful of people sauntered
a couple teased one another
one wearing a surgical mask.
Empty accordion buses passed
One driver kept announcing
the last stop for no-one but me.

The lesson which life repeats and constantly enforces is “Look under foot.” You are always nearer to the divine and the true sources of your power than you think. The lure of the distant and the difficult is deceptive. The great opportunity is where you are.

Do not despise your own place and hour. Every place is under the stars, every place is the center of the world.

John Burroughs

“in time of daffodils(who know
the goal of living is to grow)
forgetting why,remember how

in time of lilacs who proclaim
the aim of waking is to dream,
remember so(forgetting seem)

in time of roses(who amaze
our now and here with paradise)
forgetting if,remember yes

in time of all sweet things beyond
whatever mind may comprehend,
remember seek(forgetting find)

and in a mystery to be
(when time from time shall set us free)
forgetting me,remember me”
